What is the difference between cataloging and provisioning?

EarthWhere does more than simply catalog your data into a data warehouse. EarthWhere's intuitive search tools allow you to quickly find the data you need and to create custom products tailored to suit your needs. EarthWhere makes your geospatial data usable.

How long does it take to get a system up and running?

From start to finish, you can start cataloging and provisioning in a matter of hours. The installation itself is fully automated and takes less than an hour.

How does EarthWhere integrate with other products like ESRI ArcGIS?

Out of the box, EarthWhere provides the capability to output data into ESRI formats like Map Documents(.mxd) and  Layer Files(.lyr).  ArcMap users can also visualize EarthWhere data holdings via WMS. Integrators and application developers rely on EarthWhere's powerful set of web services to query the metadata catalog, visualize data, and provision products from 3rd party tools.

On which platforms does EarthWhere run?

EarthWhere is supported on Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008, both 32 and 64 bit.

Is EarthWhere DoDIIS Accredited?

Yes. EarthWhere has been accredited for use at the DIAC and has been deployed on a variety of networks.

Do I need third party systems to use EarthWhere?

No, EarthWhere is a stand-alone, all-inclusive solution.

How secure is EarthWhere?

EarthWhere uses database user authentication that stores user names and passwords in the database. A user must have a valid user name and password before they can log on to EarthWhere.

Once logged on, EarthWhere provides multiple levels of data security and user configurable policies. Access Control Lists (ACLs) and groups define the level of access each user has to specific data elements. With three permission levels — none, view only, and full — you are provided complete access control to critical information.

What input/output formats are supported?
